Preparing Your Files For best results please follow these guidelines.
What are acceptable FILE FORMATS? We accept the following file formats: AI, EPS, JPG, PDF, PNG, PSD, TIF, TIFF
What is the largest up-loadable FILE SIZE? The maximum combined file size for all uploads is 50MB (megabytes).
What is the MINIMUM IMAGE RESOLUTION? All file formats must have a minimum of 300 dpi (dots per inch) resolution. The images designed for the web are done at a low screen resolution of 72 dpi. Print images need to be created at least 300 dpi or there will be a substantial drop in the image quality.
What COLOR MODE should I use? All color files must be provided in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color mode.
What is a BLEED? A Bleed is the portion of the image that will be trimmed off when it is cut to the final size.
Why do we need a BLEED?
Whenever your artwork extends to the edge of a document, you must set up a bleed area so that when your work is being printed it doesn’t get cut-off irregularly at the edges.
We require ALL files to be built with the full bleed dimension specified for each trim size.
Please build your print-ready digital files by adding the appropriate bleed to your file.
What are CROP MARKS? Please build your press-ready digital files by adding crop marks - lines indicating where the paper should be trimmed (Labeled TRIM in the photo below).
What is a SAFE ZONE? All critical elements (text, images, logos, etc.) must be kept at least 0.125" inside the edge. Anything left close to edge may be cut off during trimmings.
How should I use FONTS?
Fonts must be embedded in PDF files. Some fonts have copyright restrictions and will not embed in PDF Files.
Fonts must be outlined or converted to paths or curves in EPS files.
Quark Express fonts and images must be included with all files submitted.
Should I add BORDERS? Borders are not recommended, as shifting in the cutting process may make borders appear uneven.
Do CROSSOVER images work well with PERFECT BINDING? We do not recommend crossover images and/or copy, as they may be lost in the gutter or may not line up after binding.
